We are among the pioneer hosts that launched trips with the new Airbnb Experiences.
On our two-day trip you will get to know Cape Town through the terroir of wine, cheese and lamb illustrated through comparative tastings, backed by the knowledge of two career food writers and editors and culminating in a braai (barbecue).

‘What a remarkable experience. Brandon and Nikki are engaging and charming hosts full of secret foodie knowledge and wonderful stories about where it all comes from. I’m a local, but the hosts have access to a whole other level of flavors and people, and delight in sharing that with you, from the cheeses, paired with subtle gradations of chenin blanc from the cool urban winery, to the warthog droewors (dried sausage), the tender variations of lamb, influenced by the fynbos they graze on, and Nikki’s amazing malva pudding. I especially loved hearing how local winemakers have been trying to recreate the most famous South African wines, or the “ghost ingredient” in cocktails. The food and wine were amazing. The stories were even better.’ –Lauren Beukes
‘I had the pleasure of being part of the Super Taster AirBnB experience hosted by Capetonian cookbook authors, Nikki Werner and Brandon de Kock. What an amazing way to find out about and get to taste some of Cape Town’s foods and lesser known wines. Kicking off with a walking tour along Bree Street (one of Cape Town’s famous restaurant strips) took us to the local cheese store, a hidden gin bar and some of Cape Town’s top restaurants. Apart from tasting so many amazing things (South African bacon, delicious cheeses, biltong) my absolute best was the opportunity to meet and chat to owners and chefs – that kind of conversation that only happens when you are with someone who knows someone. I felt a bit like food royalty for those few hours. The Super Taster experience ends with a traditional ‘braai’ (making food over open fire) at Nikki and Brandon’s home. The opportunity to spend time with a local in their home to share food is not something one ever gets to do while travelling and is a definite highlight of the Super Taster experience. I also loved that the experience was split over three days, a few hours each day with time left to enjoy other activities. Highly recommend including this in your Cape Town visit, whether you are a local or international traveller.’ –Jackie Busch
